“The Mountain”

Before me stands a great mountain, the “Mountain of Life” with its storms and trials that we have to pass through to make it to the top.

I know that if I take God’s hand, he will keep me on the straight and narrow path. Won’t let me fall into an abyss of despair and woe. Won’t let me fall off a cliff into lies and deceits, sin and immoral corruption of self. Won’t let the storms bash me until I can no longer get up.

I know if I stumble on a stone on the path, He will lift me up and lead me to a valley where we can sit and talk until I have the strength to climb on. That He won’t let the avalanches of life cover me over to be lost, but guide me to the top of that mountain safely.

God also shows me the safe side of the “Mountain of Life”, were we pass through meadows and valleys, lakes and streams, beautiful wildlife and flowers. A peaceful and serene Eden where we can climb higher to the summit. We can rest our bodies and souls.

When I stand up on top of that mountain and look down to the scene below where “Life’s Journey“ began, I will know that by “God’s Grace”, I climbed the mountain with Him by my side all the way. I’ll see the loved ones that went before me and remember the ones I left behind.

He helped me to detour around the pitfalls, the storms, the avalanches, the crumbling cliffs on the mountain. Knowing also that sitting at the top with Him, my life’s journey over, the mountain will be still and beautiful. Everything will be as He commands it to be, and my soul will soar away free from my mortal body, knowing that the “Mountain of Life” was conquered.
