“A Fun Retort”

Private Keep Out sign

Dear Management,

In regards to received notice of July 22, 2019, I wish to bring the following letter to your attention.

Since new upgrading to said property, it is understandable in wanting to keep it well-maintained, but are you kidding? You’ve stated, and I quote, “You are renting the inside and rear patio/deck of unit only, not the common areas.” Makes it sound as though we might be trespassing once we step out of our doors! Continuing:  “Planters, flowers, and hanging fixtures, chairs or tables, etc., etc., are no longer allowed in common areas. ACs no longer allowed in windows. Nothing hanging in windows, outside or on walls or doors. Bring things back in when not in use. Patio/deck…only patio furniture.”

Does this all mean that we can’t have anything by our doors, no plants, flowers, or decoration on our patio/deck? You also mentioned screen doors. They have been on some units for some time, “But now to be taken down.” It is not as if it wasn’t known they were there before. Are we, the renters, going to have to get a pass to move around on said grounds? Since we pay no rent on them, what next? People like to make their units comfortable and homey.

Can’t say I like the brownish-gray paint and trim color on the buildings now. A little drab for my taste. Now if only the parking lines could be painted. Some people can’t seem to stay within two spots. The lines are pretty faded, but I’m 81 and I can still see and gauge were the lines are at. Am I going to have to have a permit sticker to park my car in spaces allowed for parking? Then there is the matter of a garbage problem. There are only three trash dumpsters and three recycle dumpsters serving over 80 units. Garbage is picked up on Monday but by mid-week are full and sometimes running over. Recycle is picked up on Tuesday.

Since this has all come about, I feel I am not obligated to sweep or shovel snow in front of my door; nor wash the outside windows. Knock down the spiders or pick up doggie-doo left close to my door. Also, I might have to make changes of my own in the near future due to downgrading of my finances, unlike you, I don’t have the means to recoup after paying monthly bills.

If I’ve forgotten something, I am sure management will come up with more ideas to make one feel they are in a “base camp”. By the way, when does the rent increase go up due to upgrading?

Thank you, I think.

Signed, A renter of ONE inside and patio unit only
